During our Disney World trip last month we were able to drag our tired behinds out of bed early enough to arrive at Animal Kingdom for the rope drop. We immediately headed over to the Kilimanjaro Safari because we were told that is the best time to see all the animals.
Apparently the animals are far more energetic and less camera shy in the mornings so there is far more to see than you would in the afternoons. Ok, well it actually has to do with the fact that its cooler in the mornings but seriously Im no safari expert!
So we hopped on board the open air vehicle and meandered right into the heart of the animal reserve cameras in hand, ready to snap as quick as we could.
Weve done this safari many times before but none of those times were as fun as this time. All the animals were out and about, ready and willing to have their photos taken. The whole ride was awesome. One of the giraffes even came over to our vehicle and just stood in front of us, not moving, almost daring us to keep driving.
He or she just stood there staring at us for about 10 minutes. It was really funny because it would just not move, essentially backing up all the other vehicles behind us. We felt a little sorry for the other guests waiting in line to get on the safari, but what could we do? It eventually meandered off the vehicle route very slowly which also gave us a good chuckle. It was as if it was trying to say this is my home!

Our experience on the Kilimanjaro Safari was great. We highly recommend that if you are visiting the World and go to Animal Kingdom that you stop and take a ride on the safari. If you can do it in the morning when all the animals are out and about.
