Best Backpacker Hostels and Hotels By Me

This blog is a shout out to my 3 all-time favourite hostels! If you happen to be in the area these are the hostels I recommend for having an amazing atmosphere and for providing those little extra touches and freebies than make a hostel really memorable.

  1. Plus Berlin! Berlin, Germany

lthough it’s not one of the cheapest ive stayed in, Plus Berlin is one of my all-time favourite hostels! It’s close to a S-Bahn, a U-bahn, a Lidl, a post office, a chip shop and the East Side Gallery and that’s just the benefits of the hostels location!

The hostel itself is clean and well-kept, has friendly staff and doubles up as a hotel if you can afford a bit of privacy. All rooms I’ve stayed in have been well decorated and had an ensuite, the hostel dorms have lockers and the hotel rooms have TVs, all for a reasonable price.

On top of this Plus Berlin contains a bar/restaurant and a (free!!) swimming pool and a sauna!

A free underground tour of Berlin is also offered which is incredibly interesting and informative showing you parts of Berlin you may never have found otherwise and giving you a tour of some of the amazing (and illegal!) graffiti around the city (when I say free, the tour guides work for tips and you’ll need a ticket for the U-bahn).

The extras you get with plus Berlin really make it special if you’re willing to pay a little more (although if you catch them with an offer on it may only be a few pounds more than some of Berlins cheapest hostels).

  2. Happy Seven Hostel! Gdansk, Poland

Happy Seven is the most comfortable hostel I’ve stayed in, I don’t know if it’s due to the open plan kitchen/common room or because you have to take your shoes off on entering but it felt like home!

The dorms have personality and you can tell a lot of effort has gone into making this hostel something special. The location is also decent as it’s close to the main street in Gdansk, you can see the marina as soon as you step out the front door and beneath it is a quirky pub! The staff at Happy Seven are incredibly friendly and are willing to sit and have a chat with you in the common room if they’re not busy.

The common room itself doubles up as a movie room in the evening where they have an extensive list of films for you to choose from! Then you can have a comfy homey movie night in with the Happy Seven staff and other travellers!  http://www.happyseven.com/
